In order to maintain and extend the life of your septic system the manufacturer typically recommends to pump out solids in tanks every two years for the following reasons:
- Sludge (solids) may build up and get passed through your network of pipes causing a plug which could leave your field unusable,
- Regular maintenance increases property value as you are able to provide records of proper tank and field maintenance,
- In some situations, if proper maintenance is not completed, a field may be deemed unusable or saturated and the repair or replacement could cost tens of thousands of dollars to repair the damage, and
- Pumping out a tank can help reset bacteria levels helping your overall system work more efficiently.
A well maintained septic system can last for decades.
